About Us

Masjid Zayfa proudly serves as a centre for spiritual enrichment, learning, and community support. Guided by the principles of Islam, we aim to uplift hearts, strengthen bonds, and inspire positive change.

Page layouts look better with something in each section. Web page designers, content writers, and layout artists use lorem ipsum, also known as placeholder copy, to distinguish which areas on a page will hold advertisements, editorials, and filler before the final written content and website designs receive client approval.

Masjid Zayfa

A Pioneer of Islamic Reform in United Kingdom

At Masjid Zayfa, we honor the legacy of Abd al-Hamid Ben Badis (1889–1940)—a visionary Algerian scholar, educator, and reformer whose work continues to inspire Muslims around the world. Born in Constantine into a respected scholarly family, Ben Badis developed a deep love for Islamic learning from a young age and memorized the Qur’an by thirteen.

His mentor, Hamdan Lounissi, encouraged him to pursue knowledge sincerely and to dedicate himself to uplifting the Muslim community. This guidance shaped Ben Badis’ lifelong mission of education, reform, and service.

In 1931, he founded the Association of Algerian Muslim Ulema, uniting scholars across the country to revive Islamic teachings, promote education, and strengthen cultural identity. Through its schools and its influential journal Al-Chihab, the Association played a major role in Algeria’s intellectual and spiritual renewal.

Ben Badis firmly defended the Islamic and Arab identity of Algeria during colonial rule and was inspired by notable reformers such as Jamal al-Din al-Afghani and Muhammad Abduh. His dedication to knowledge, community empowerment, and Islamic values continues to guide our vision at Masjid Zayfa.
